Biography

Amy Graham is a singer-songwriter from Cape Breton Island whose musical sound draws influences from Rock, Roots, Folk and Country genres.

Amy grew up in Judique, Nova Scotia, a small village on the Ceilidh trail about 20 kilometres north of the Canso Causeway.  A member of a musical family steeped in Cape Breton traditional fiddle music and Gaelic culture, Amy began singing, step-dancing and dabbling with the fiddle and piano at an early age. She also plays acoustic and bass guitar. Growing up with a variety of musical influences has shaped Amy’s vocal style to fall within the mainstream Pop/Rock/Country genres.

Amy made her first professional recording debut when she was featured on her brother, Glenn Graham’s (fiddler/songwriter/composer), album Step Outside (2000).  She sang the lead vocal on 3 tracks, Tomorrow, Don’t Go Away, and Whispers From Heaven, the first of which was  featured on an episode of Party of Five  (Fox Channel DVD box set), and the latter, on an episode of Dawson’s Creek on the WB network (all songs written by Glenn). Amy toured with Glenn while promoting the CD, performing with some of Cape Breton’s most innovative musicians, appearing at California’s Villa Montalvo, Celtic Colours International Festival, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Saint John Festival by the Sea, Granville Green Concert Series, College of the Atlantic (Bar Harbour, Maine) and numerous other venues.  In 2001, Amy went on to pursue a solo songwriting career, writing and recording 3 songs in 2001, one of which (Sooner Than You Know) was also featured on the WB’s Dawson’s Creek Season 2 DVD box set; released worldwide by Sony Pictures Television.  When Glenn released a compilation album in 2007, Amy was again featured as the lead vocalist on Silent Heroes, a track penned by Glenn.

Amy has spent a number of years developing her songwriting craft and will be releasing songs for preview and download in the coming weeks.
